Bible Barn, your source for Christian greeting cards including DaySpring Cards, discount Bibles, Communion supplies and Christian books is owned by Monty and Melody (Welch) Huffman. We are members of the Parkway Drive Church of Christ, where Monty is serving as Evangelism minister. Melody teaches the Preschool Bible class.
Monty was born on the mission field of Maine. He grew up on the mission field of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He began his preaching at the young age of 17 when challenged by one of the elders of the now Third and Kilgore church of Christ of Portales, New Mexico.
Melody was born in Lubbock, Texas and attended the Lubbock Christian Schools from kindergarten to four years at Lubbock Christian College.
We married in August of 1980 and devoted our life to serving the Lord.
Melody has worked as a school teacher in Midland, Happy, Pecos, and Kermit, Texas. Monty has been a minister for over 30 years, and was a minister in each of those places. Melody began teaching Bible class under the supervision of her mother, Doris Welch, when she was 12.
God blessed our home with two wonderful sons, Micah and Matthew. We were missionaries in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil for several years. While there, we lost our Matthew to spinal meningitis. Micah lives in Lubbock and works for Lellum Welch.
In January 2007, we decided to return to Lubbock to be near our aging folks. We began praying for the Lord to show us how we might do that. In March we learned friends who had a Bible bookstore were retiring. We knew West Texas and beyond still needed a family oriented Bible bookstore. Thus, our dream began. While looking for property one day, we looked at a barn shaped building for rent. It had been a BBQ place. The building wasn't suited for a bookstore, but the name Bible Barn was born.
We opened our doors on Monday, September 10, 2007. God has richly blessed us and our cliental has grown. We have many loyal walk in customers and area churches we serve monthly. We have serviced customers as far away as Maine, Scotland, England, and Brazil.
